Terms of Use
Effective Date: 28 January 2024
By being a member of Te Whare Pora, you agree to comply with the mātāpono of Te Whare Pora:
Kaitiakitanga
Kaitiakitanga of our weaving knowledge involves preserving and respecting the traditional techniques, kōrero and cultural significance passed down over time. It's about safeguarding the skills, materials, and kōrero inherent in our art for future generations. As custodians, we take our part in the responsibility for ensuring that this knowledge endures.
Manaakitanga (Hospitality and Respect):
We embrace the principle of manaakitanga, which guides us to treat each other with kindness, respect, and hospitality. We expect all members of our community to interact with each other in a respectful and considerate manner that is uplifting and empowering. Therefore, discrimination, harassment, or any form of disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
Ūkaipōtanga (Inclusivity and a sense of Belonging):
Our community is built on the foundation of ūkaipōtanga, feeding and sharing knowledge, which emphasises inclusivity and promoting a sense of belonging for all members. We all acknowledge the diversity of whānau, hapū and iwi and that we each may have different techniques, ways of doing things or saying things. We embrace diversity of opinions, backgrounds, and experiences, and we acknowledge that we may do things differently to others. We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and nourished.
Kotahitanga (Unity and Collaboration):
Kotahitanga is central to our community, promoting unity and collaboration among members. We believe in the strength of working together towards common goals of Te Whare Pora.
Strengthening ourselves and each other in ngā mahi ā te Whare Pora;
Collabrorating and contributing to strengthen the body of knowledge of Te Whare Pora, so that it is strong for the coming generations.
By joining our community, you agree to contribute positively and work collaboratively with other members to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose.
Rangatiratanga (Empowerment and Self-Determination):
Rangatiratanga embodies the principles of empowerment and self-determination. We respect the autonomy and sovereignty of each member, whānau, hapū and iwi. You have the right to express yourself, share your perspectives, and contribute to discussions in a meaningful way. We encourage active participation and value your unique voice.
